There are three phases:

Anagen phase: growth phase (6-8 years) New hair roots are formed, and cells are continuously produced. Approximately 80-90% of all hair is in this growth phase.
Catagen phase: transitional phase (2-3 weeks) Hair cells gradually stop developing; the hair root shrinks and then disappears. About 1% of all hairs are in this phase.
Telogen phase: resting phase (3-4 months) The hair falls out, the follicle regenerates and new hairs are formed before the hair cycle starts again with the anagen phase. This phase includes 10-20% of all hair

Scalp background: what are the different types of hair loss?
What is referred to as hair loss? The daily loss or loss of 80 to 100 hairs is completely normal. Over short periods of time, this number can increase or decrease significantly. Hair renewal can be affected by seasonal changes, with the highest rate of hair loss occurring in the fall and spring. Changes of this nature are completely harmless.

Reversible (temporary) hair loss: all reversible types of hair loss – with the exception of circular hair loss – are characterized by a diffuse pattern (i.e. they are evenly distributed over the entire head of hair) and can range from imperceptible to significant thinning of hair.

Influences Hair Loss: If the daily hair loss is significantly above normal for a long period of time, it may be considered as: a. Reversible hair loss can be treated after the root causes are diagnosed and treated. b. Irreversible hair loss cannot yet be reversed or is very difficult to reverse, but local treatments can help prevent it.

Irreversible (androgenetic) hair loss: Androgenetic hair loss affects both sexes. It is a common form of hair loss in men known as "male pattern baldness." It involves the action of male hormones called androgens, which are essential for regulating hair growth. The two main androgens are testosterone and its derivative, dihydrotestosterone (DHT). An enzyme, 5-alpha reductase, converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, which in the hair follicle causes the growth phase to be shortened and the onset of the resting phase to be accelerated. It takes longer for hair to begin growing again, and the hair follicle itself changes, shrinking and producing a shorter, thinner hair shaft. The pattern of hair loss in women is different from that of male pattern hair loss. The hair thins all over the head, and the hairline does not recede. Androgenetic hair loss in women rarely results in complete baldness.

What is the best way to prevent hair loss? Healthy hair grows from a healthy scalp, in which the blood vessels are responsible for the optimal supply of the hair roots.
